Beach access is located in Palmetto Dunes at their newly renovated Dunes House, where you will find parking, dining and bathrooms nearby. Shelter Cove has evolved over the years into the island’s hub. Located mid island, this
Mediterranean- styled marina (repeat winner this year for best marina on the island) has
it all: watersports, dining, shopping, entertainment and extraordinary views. No matter
the time of day or night, the wrap-around boardwalk is filled with dog walkers, families
enjoying the sights or couples sharing quiet moments on the benches located along the
walkway.
Spring and summer are when Shelter Cove really comes to life. Nightly entertainment
at the gazebo, festivals and events of every kind, including the fabulous Memorial Day
Arts Festival. Most memorable is the always popular 30 th year, Tuesday night firework
extravaganza, Harbourfest, featuring vendors, music and kids’ activities, culminating in
a great firework display at dusk. (We have heard a rumor of something special planned
for the 250 th anniversary of the USA this year!) Enjoy kayaking, rent a boat for a quick
cruise down the waterway, go cruise and watch some dolphins or just enjoy the beauty
of the “back side of the island.”

  For my friend and me, both in our 80's, the location was ideal, for both us and the dogs that each of us had brought along. For the full 10 days we stayed at Harborside 7158 in Jan. 26, the weather was unusually cold. But the condo has been newly redone to a high level, with quality furniture and appliances. It was very warm and welcoming after an exhilarating walk. We would certainly like to return. Parking was easy and close, and the elevator dropped us off directly across from the door to our condo. There are many walking paths starting with the beautiful Harborside location, to the Shelter Cove town center, to the beach (with an included pass for beach parking in Palmetto Dunes). Shelter Cove's central location on the island is ideal. A great choice for many people who want to experience Hilton Head's many offerings: great restaurants, golf, beach, biking and walking trails, and historic venues, I''ve stayed in many of HH's wonderful locations, including Sea Pines, Palmetto Dunes, Shipyard Plantation, private homes near Caligny Beach and this condo is one of my favorites. There may be better views from some of the other Harborside condos, but the Harbor views are there as soon as you take your first walk along the Harbor. We had very little need to contact the property management people, but when we did they were very responsive.👍.
